Theory

Most aspects of theory are covered in the lesson, but once a student reaches the equivalent of 4th or 5th Grade AMEB on their instrument, additional time is required to be devoted to the study of music theory. This might mean an additional 15 minutes attached to the regular piano lesson time for Prelim-Grade 2 Theory but for higher grades, it can mean an additional 30 minute lesson.

Alternatively, you may be learning another instrument with another teacher and wish to take separate theory lessons with us at our Lilydale studio.

VCE Music Performance Tutorials

If your daughter or son would like some additional help in understanding the VCE Music aural, musicianship and analysis components, in preparation for the end of year written and aural examination, please call us to discuss how we can help. Weekly individual classes commence in late January of each year continuing through to November. Individual tutorials are 45 minutes for Unit 1 and 2 students and 60 minute for Unit 3 and 4 students. Enrolments will not be accepted after April for these tutorials.

Online Piano Lessons

Some students may find it more convenient to have regular online lessons for piano instead of attending in person . This is a great option if you reside in a remote location. Online lessons are suitable for students who are 10 years of age or older. Parents are always welcome to "sit in" on the lesson. Students need to have access to an iPad, tablet, Surface Pro, Laptop or Desktop computer, with either an inbuilt camera and microphone or separate webcam, and a high speed internet connection. The lesson would be delivered through a suitable app such as Zoom or Messenger. Please phone us or send an email to see if this option is suitable for you.

Summer Theory Dash 2024

Each summer we offer an online fast-track summer theory option for Grades 1, 2 or 3 AMEB Theory in January. There will be 10 individual lessons of 30-45 minutes duration, which will be held daily over a fortnight on weekdays between 8th-19th January. Most course work will be completed during the lesson and there may be homework set in order to complete the grade. After completion of all work, students may enrol with the AMEB to complete the exam online. Spaces are limited. Please email to register your interest by January 2nd

We’d love to hear from you!
